Refried Beans are the base to most of my meals. The healthiest cultures around the globe consume large amounts of beans. That is the first green flag. Beans are high in Fiber and many other nutrients. Green Flag 2. These beans include Garlic, Ginger, Walnuts and Bone Broth. Delish!
When doing the Lion Diet I recommend finding a meal that works and repeating it. I call my “usual” meal an Alpha Power Bowl. The Alpha Power Bowl is my standard meal on the Maintenance Lion Diet plan. In a bowl I start with Alpha Refried Beans. They are topped with meats, veggies, sauces, eggs. This can be eaten as a bowl or on keto tortillas.
The Alpha Refried Beans are like the mashed potatoes of my meals. I am usually reheating my beans for my meals, so I have made some adjustments. I make mine “looser” or thinner than what you would get at a restaurant. They dry out as they sit in the refrigerator and are microwaved. These beans are delicious on their own, but I am adding walnuts, spices and bone broth for the purpose of making a more nutrient dense food. I use Kidney Beans because I can get a restaurant size can at my grocery store. You can use whatever beans you want. Keep in mind, I am not trying to make the most authentic refried beans.
I make this every week. I hope you enjoy this quick and easy recipe as much as I do.

How to make Alpha Refried Beans Recipe
Alpha Refried Beans Ingredients
#10 Can Kidney Beans (110oz)
1 Medium Onion
1/4 Cup Raw Walnuts
1/2 Quart Bone Broth (low Sodium)
1 Lime
4TBLS Garlic Powder
2 TBLS Ginger Powder
1/4 Cup Dried Cilantro
2 tsps Salt
2 tsps Black Pepper
Open the can of Kidney Beans. Drain and rinse the beans and pour them in a pot for cooking. Dice up the onion.
Next Add:
Bone Broth
Onion
Cilantro
Garlic Powder
Ginger Powder
Salt
Pepper
Stir everything together. Bring it to a boil. Reduce heat to Med/Low to simmer for 5 minutes. Onions will be opaque. Ladle beans with Bean Broth into a blender until full. You will only need about 3/4 of the Bean Broth for all the beans. Be careful. It is hot.
You can see here how it is all blending together. It will remind you of a milkshake consistency while blending. If the top of the beans aren’t blending in, you need more broth. These beans are smoother and silkier than traditional. But, they hold and reheat well.
While Blending Add:
Lime Juice
Walnuts (omit if allergic)
Blend Well (2-3 Minutes)
Pour Alpha Refried Beans into a container with a lid
This is 1 Gallon Container (Ice Cream LOL)
Store refrigerated for up to 7 days
Freeze up to 6 months
Optional: You can fold in your favorite salsa or chili powder to taste. My favorite is Crazy Good Fermented Salsa. I have to let it cool down a little. I don’t want to kill the Ferment! It’s Crazy Good!!!
